ISO6521: ISO6521 maximum input current

Part Number: ISO6521

ISO6521 datasheet shows (chapter 7.4.1) that there are inner diodes on each input (also specified in absolute maximum ratings, the "+/-0.5V"). In my application there may be occasional (=surge/exception) situations where input voltage can go beyond local supply. I intend to add series resistors with inputs for such situations. To properly size these resistors, I need to know the absolute maximum value for the input current, when the inner diodes are conducting.

  • Hello,

We do not provide an absolute maximum input current value that you are requesting. According to our datasheet you can expect about 1.8 mA of input current at 1 MBPS and 3.3 V supply. You can use this as a rough baseline when sizing your resistor. The best solution would be to test your input with our EVM.
