ISO1228: nRST pin function

Part Number: ISO1228

Hi team,

here are a few questions regarding ISO1228:
1) Does activating the nRST pin reset the contents of the filter configuration registers?
2) Is it possible to reset the SPI interface before each access using the nRST pin?
3) Does the function of the nRST pin depend on the nCS pin?
4) Can the BURST_EN pin be connected directly to GND1 if the COMM_SEL pin is connected to VCC1?

Many thanks in advance,
Alex

  • Hi Alex,

See the following answers to your questions:

    1) No. The nRST pin will force a reset of the ISO1228 SPI controller and the ISO1228 will maintain its previous configurations.

    2) Yes. nRST needs to be asserted for a minimum of 35ns to allow a full reset of the SPI logic inside ISO1228.

    3) No. nRST and nCS are functionally independent. nCS only follows nRST in the timing sequence.

    4) Yes. COMM_SEL tied to VCC1 selects serial SPI mode, where pin 29 (OUT7/BURST_EN) acts as the burst-mode control input. Tying BURST_EN low selects non-burst SPI behavior; burst mode requires it to be high.
