Digital Isolation for J1708 interface

Hi

I am planning to use DS36277 for J1708 interface over UART. Is there any suggested or recommended digital isolator for this J1708 interface ?

Note: I would like to design the J1708 interface with isolation similar to in-built isolation in ISO1050 device (CAN tranceiver).

Please advice...

    Hi Pandiya,

    From what I understand, J1708 derives its electrical specifications from RS-485 and an RS-485 transceiver can still be used for J1708 though functional specifications would be different for both. For last few years CAN (J1939) has been replacing J1708 though J1708 is still being used. CAN and J1708 electrical specifications would be different & incompatible and I am afraid you can't use a CAN transceiver for for J1708 interface.

    Assuming you are looking for an isolated interface device, we have ISO3082 / ISO3086 for RS-485 and ISO1050 for CAN.
