USB Full speed isolation IC

Hi guys,

We are looking for a USB Full speed isolation IC. We have looked at the ISOx series digital isolators and realise they probably wont suit?

What do you recommend we do?

    Hi Ryan,

    Right, the ISOxxxx devices currently do not support USB. You can probably choose to isolation the interface between your MCU / MPU and the USB Controller (which could be PCIe or anything else).
    In parallel, you could also create myTI account to get e-mail updates on new product releases of your interest.

    We want to use the MSP430F5529 because of its USB stack, is there any alternative way of protecting the PC from any noise/EMC from the PCB which populates this microcontroller? Or will a direct connection (along with suitable EMC precautions on the PCB) suffice?

    Hi Ryan,

    An isolator that can isolate USB directly would be the best device to achieve USB isolation in your application. Since we do not have USB isolator currently and since MSP430 is connecting directly to your PC, you would have to find another point in your system to isolate it from your PC and this could still be achieved depending upon your system. Could you please let me know if there are any inputs connected to the MSP430?
