Profibus-DP Isolation Specification

Hello,

Please help me to find any standard / document / recommendation about minimum isolation voltage for a Profibus-DP interface.

I know, isolation is not required, but most devices are equipped with an isolation interface.

Some have 1000 Vrms, some 3500 Vrms.

I am looking for some "official" document with specifications.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I am using ISO1176TDW.

The Isolation rating required would depend mostly on your end application. If you can share a few details about the system scenario we can help recommend an isolation rating for your system.

Dear Anand,

Thanks for reply.

Our application is an industrial gas detector with a Profibus-DP port.

By this the gas detector can be connected to a controller system (PLC).

Application area: clean rooms, industrial indoor production/assembly area's.

There is no official document as such, but usually for an industrial environment it is recommended to have minimum 1 kVrms isolation rating. Having higher rating will help improve the ESD and EFT performance of the system.
