ISO7520C datasheet specifies recommended supplies of either 3.15 - 3.45V OR 4.75V - 5.25V (page 3).

Our application has a worst case supply range of 4.5138 - 5.3341V. 

1) What is the effect of the supply being some 236mV below the recommended minimum for 5V operation, yet above the recommended 3.3V operation levels?

2) What is the effect of the supply being some 84mV above recommended maximum for 5V operation?

In our application:

- temperatures will be between 0 - 40C

- logic thresholds are well away from limits

- switching rates are well below the maximum

    The datasheet specifies various characteristics separately for 3.3 V and 5 V. If your supply is somewhere in between, the actual characteristics will not be guaranteed to be in either set of specified values, but somewhere in between.

    84 mV is probably harmless, but you won't get an official guarantee from TI.

    I guess you can't simply regulate the supply down to 3.3 V?

    Hi Richard Glover,

    As Clemens explained, it is Not recommended to violate the operating conditions mentioned in the datasheet.

    For your application, I would suggest you to use ISO7720 device. ISO7720 is a pin to pin compatible part with Wide Supply Range support: 2.25 V to 5.5 V.
