ISOW7841: The necessity of line condenser.

Part Number: ISOW7841

Hi teams.

My customer wants to know necessity of line condenser.

In Figure 3 of the SLLA 368A application report, we compare with competition products, but are we comparing line capacitors at this time? Or is it a result under unused condition?

The customers think that ISOW 7841 has superiority because it is can be used without condenser if it more isense to radiated noise than companies of ADI.

I would like to let you know if ISOW 7841 is respectfully made more resistant to noise than other companies.

Best regards

Hayashi

  • Hi Hayashi,

Could you please clarify what you meant by line condenser? Are you referring to Ferrite Beads/ Common Mode Chokes to reduce emissions?

In Figure 3, we are comparing emissions of ISOW7841 device (operating at full load condition) against equivalent integrated competition device (also operating at full load condition). This emissions measurement was done according to CISPR22 standard.

ISOW7841 can be used without Ferrite Beads/CMCs to meet the certain emissions specification. Could you please share which standard customer is trying to meet? I can try and help with additional data accordingly.

  • Hi Anand,

For the line capacitor, it refers to the bypass capacitor between the primary side and the secondary side.
It does not refer to ferrite beads or choke coils.

I think whether it is simply used to suppress the shaking of the ground due to radiated noise, but may it be considered that radiation noise is superior to other companies (ADI products) without the capacitor?
Of course, we think that the option to install if necessary.

  • Hi Hayashi,

    Thank you for explaining.

Could you please clarify which standard it is that customer is looking at?
ISOW7841 is capable of meeting CISPR22 Class-B without the bypass capacitor, if the board is carefully according to the recommended guidelines. This was shown in the SLLA368A App Note.

Could you also let me know what load condition you are operating at?
The emissions performance of ISOW7841 at higher loads is much superior to any existing integrated competition devices.
