ISO7742: power consumption

Part Number: ISO7742

Team,

One of my customers had a question power consumption during a specific configuration which is not stated in the DS. They would like to know the power consumption when the isolated side is powered down completely but the non-isolated side is still power up? I don’t think that’s a common configuration but wanted to check with you if there’s any data on that.

  • Hi Dmitry,
Thanks for asking your question on E2E.
To first order the two sides of the digital isolator act completely independent. Icc1 and Icc2 values in the Supply Current Characteristics are essentially independent of whether or not the other side is powered up.

So, for example, if side 2 is completely powered down, Icc2 = 0mA, but Icc1 values can be found in the tables. Let's say Vcc1 = 5V, and you have a 10Mbps signal on each input, then the typical value of Icc1 = 4mA even when side two is powered down.

Please let me know if that answers your question or you need any further clarification!

    Best regards,
    Dan
