ISO7821: Certification status (Dec 2018)

Part Number: ISO7821
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISOW7821

Hello,

The datasheet for ISO7821W says that certifications for VDE, CSA, UL, CQC and TUV are all "planned."

Can you give an update on the certification status for each of these standards?

Also, I would like to inquire about the input-to-output capacitance specification.  The datasheet says input-to-output
capacitance is ~3.5pF.  For competing isolators from Analog Devices (i.e. ADuM5241), the input-output capacitance
is 1 pF (typ).  How is it possible that CMTI of the ISO7821W is better than ADuM5241, given the higher input-output
capacitance spec?

Thank you,

Mohan

  • Hi Mohan,

I just checked in on those safety certifications. They are all complete, however the update to the datasheet will take more time. You can use the "Alert Me" button on the ISOW7821 product page to receive an update when that is complete.

The common mode transient immunity (CMTI) is a product of the signal conditioning circuits used on the TX and RX signals. The signal conditioning improve the common mode rejection of the channel resulting in better CMTI. This is possible with our new isolators that use an On-Off Keying Architecture (OOK) which is present in the ISOW78xx, ISO78xx and ISO77xx family of devices. You can read more about this in the Digital Isolator Design Guide (see page 3).

    Best regards,

    Dan
