ISO1050: Minimum data rate

Part Number: ISO1050
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO1042

This chip has a timeout should the chips controller or software fail and try to hold the bus dominant. the timer will time out and the bus will be released by the Tx driver. But what is the time TXD_TDO that is refered to in 8.3.3.1 of the datasheet? I cannot find it anywhere.

  • Hi Simon,

The dominant time-out can be found in Section 6.9 Switching Characteristics: Driver (page 8 of the ISO1050 datasheet)

I've pasted the relevant section below:

As you can see, the minimum data rate for the ISO1050 is 37kbps

If this is for a new design, I would recommend you check out the ISO1042. The ISO1042 is an upgraded device with higher isolation rating, CAN FD speeds of 5 Mbps, higher bus fault-protection voltage, better EMC performance, and smaller package options. The ISO1042 has a different DTO which sets the minimum data rate to 9.2 kbps.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.
    Best regards,

    Dan

  • Thank you. Why on earth is all that not in the bit that actually describes the function.
