Hi guys,

Do we have a Blog or document, which explains porting from ISO3088 to a newer device?

Whats the best device replacing the ISO3088 for a new design?

    Hi Needhu,

    Fortunately there is no process to 'port' software when upgrading an ISO3088. This is because the isolator (and integrated transceiver) only pass signals from input to output and do not control them.

    Latest replacements for the ISO3088 are in the ISO14xx family, featuring higher isolation ratings, increased transceiver EMC protection, wider supply range, and stronger CMTI. This family allows you to choose the device with appropriate half-duplex datarate as follows:

    ISO1410, ISO1410B 500kbps
    ISO1430, ISO1430B 12Mbps
    ISO1450, ISO1450B 50Mbps


    Where the "-B" suffix denotes a Basic Isolation option instead of Reinforced. The differences in these parameters are shown below:

    Protection level Reinforced Basic
    Surge test voltage per VDE 10000 Vpk 6000 Vpk
    Isolation rating per UL 5000 Vrms 5000 Vrms
    Working voltage per VDE 1060 Vrms / 1500 Vpk 1060 Vrms / 1500 Vpk

    Hi Needhu,

    Of course! The ISO1500 and ISO14x0 are both half duplex devices, and the ISO1500 has an isolation rating of 3kVrms while the ISO14xx has an isolation rating of 5kVrms. The ISO1500 has a 1Mbps datarate and is only available in an ultra-small package of 29mm2 area vs. the 77mm2 area of the ISO14xx.
