ISO7721: power on sequence

Part Number: ISO7721

Dear  All:

In my BMS application, the VCC pin connect  the  ISO7721 VCCIN  ahead the  GND  connect the ISO7721 GND pin,    Does this condition, have any effect on the ISO7721?

  • Hi Big Bill,

Thank you for posting to E2E! In situations where Vcc1 is powered before GND1 is, no damage is expected if GND1 is truly disconnected. If residual charge is present or energy is coupled to GND1 such that datasheet limits are exceeded, then unexpected behavior or damage to the device could occur.

What is the voltage level of ISO7721 GND pin before GND is connected while VCCIN is powered? You are asking about the VCCIN and GND pins on the same side of an isolator as shown below, correct?

Please do expect our responses during normal business hours Monday - Friday.

Thank you, and have a great day!
    Manuel Chavez
