ISO1050: Split Termination

Hi Team,

Here are a few questions about the ISO1050 that need your help:

1. Under the split termination as below shows, how can we get the value of Rterm/2 =? ,Csplit=?

2. If multiple ISO1050 CANH & CANLs are connected together as follows, then is each ISO10502 connected to a terminating resistor and capacitor (if using the split termination method)?

3. In addition, will the resistance and capacitance of the terminating resistor be affected by the number of CANs connected in parallel with ISO1050 CANH & CANL Bus?

Jamie,

1. Rterm is defined as 120ohm in the datasheet. This will make Rterm/2 = 60ohm. 4.7nF would be a decent value for Csplit.

2. CAN termination should be done at either end of the network. This means to say at the first node and last node only.

3. The termination resistance and capacitance should remain the same regardless of the amount of CAN transceivers on the bus.

Also, the ISO1042 is the suggested replacement for the ISO1050. Is there a specific reason for your interest in the ISO1050?
