Isolating an Analog Signal

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC1311, ISO224

Hello All,

I'm looking to isolated an analogue signal that is afterwards going to be read by an ADC.

The signal can go from around  0 to 5V. Is there any IC ( optocoupler, op-amp or other ) that could achieve this ?

I didn't want to use an Isolated ADC because I don't have any communication available to be used on the board.

Thank you.

  • Hi Bruno,

Our AMC1311 is going to be a good place to start. This device has high input impedance ideal for voltage measurements and a 0-2V input range. The 0-5V signal can simply be attenuated using a resistor divider. The AMC1211 is the cost optimized version of this device and there are automotive qualified versions of both.

Another option is the ISO224 with a  +/-12V input range, however this solution is not ideal since a large portion of the input range would not be utilized.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.
