Looking for an SOT-89 pkg LDO that can handle 12-15 V input, give 5.2v output to drive SN6505 which has multiple isolated outputs?  The total current from 5.2V running the SN6505 is <100mA

Also: is there a TI part for charge pump converting 5.2V to -5V? Output current <3,A for THS4081 VSS supply.

  • Hi Robin,

    Thanks for your post! Since I work mostly with SN650x devices, I will allow the LDO team to recommend a device fitting this need. Please confirm the requirements are:

    Vin = 12V - 15V
    Vout = 5.2V
    I_out = <100mA

    Multiple isolated outputs can be created using multiple SN6505 devices or a single SN6505 device with a multi-output transformer or transformers connected in parallel. Please ensure the max power isolated by each SN6505 does not exceed 5W and the current sinking through SN6505 does not exceed 1A.

    The amount of current sinking through an SN6505 can be estimated using the load current and transformer turns ratio: I_primary = I_load x turns ratio. For multiple outputs, the total I_primary will be the combination of each current, ( I_load1 x turns ratio1 ) + ( I_load2 x turns ratio2 )... and so on.

    Thank you,

  • Hi Robin,

    The LM317L is a pretty good linear regulator that can fulfill your requirements. It is a 3 terminal device that can supply up to 100mA and the Vout can be adjusted from 1.25V to 32V using an external resistor divider. It comes in 3 different SOT-89 package options. Please take a look into the device, and do not hesitate to ask more questions if needed.

    Best Regards,

    Edgar Acosta.
