CAN Termination

Hello

i want to make my CAN bus termination a switchable one means if i want to enable the termination i want to give a gpio signal which will enable the termination and if i dont want termination i will toggle the gpio so that i will be disable, like using a transistor as a switch.

is it possible?

Hello, Mukudan,

in principle, this is possible. However, care must be taken that the termination is valid at all times, hence enabled when the node is at the end of the bus, disabled when not. Furthermore, the transistor(s) must be chosen to minimally impact the termination, hence low and similar RDSon for both directions (likely an antiparallel arrangement of two transistors is needed) and low capacitance.

thanks, i will try this and now and i am planning to put a switcher ic like MAX14759 too
