TPS7A6350-Q1 operation by pin to pin open/short condition.

I would like to confirm the operation of TPS7A6350-Q1 by open/short condition.

<short>
1. EN - RDELAY
2. RDELAY - GND
3. RDELAY - VOUT
4. ROSC - GND
5. NWD_EN - GND

<open>
1. RDELAY
2. ROSC

Best regards,

  • Hi Atsushi-san,

    Here are the possible response of the device under below conditions, assume these conditions happens during normal operation.

    <short>
    1. EN - RDELAY: EN is a high voltage pin but RDELAY is low-volt pin, if the voltage apply at EN pin is higher than 7V, the device might be damaged.
    2. RDELAY - GND: Device will survive, but reset logic will be influenced.

    3. RDELAY - VOUT: Device will survive, but reset logic will be influence.
    4. ROSC - GND: the watchdog operate at a period of about 10ms, as the minimum pulse width for resetting wathdog timer is 1.65us, so period equals to 1.65us*5000=8.25ms.
    5. NWD_EN - GND: watchdog is enabled, the condition for enable watchdog is pull-down the WD_EN

    <open>
    1. RDELAY: No influence, the device operate with a 250us power on reset delay time
    2. ROSC:  Watchdog period between 108ms and 254ms

  • Dear David-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

    I have a question.

    About 2 and 3 for "short", you answered reset  logic will be influenced.

    Let me know the detail of the influence of reset logic in the case of these conditions?

    Best regards,

    Atsushi Yamauchi

  • Hi Atsushi, When delay pin is short to ground, the RESET pin will never go high, as you can see from the figure 18 of datasheet, after delay pin voltage charge to its threshold, the RESET pin will go high. If delay pin is short to Vout, I am sorry my previous answer is not accurate enough, the device might be damaged actually as there would tens of mA current flow from Vout into delay pin when Vout is high. The reliability will be influenced. Best regards David Xu
