TPS7A16 in parallel

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A16

Can two TPS7A160-Q1 (automotive) be operated in parallel? I need 150mA.

  • Hi Robert,

There is stability issue for two TPS7A16 in parallel.

May I have more detail about your application? Is this used in the 24V system? Is low quiescent current a key spec?
We have many 40-V LDO with low Iq could support 150mA, such as TPS7A6601-Q1, TPS7B6701-Q1, would you consider using 40-V LDO instead?

    Best regards,
    Jason Liu
  • Thanks for the response Jason. Yes we do need to operate in 24V trucks, so I will need to reconsider my architecture.
  • Yes, the TPS7A6601-Q1 may be of use. Do you have more info on its over-voltage tolerance, 45V for 200mS. 48V for how long? The TPS7B67 series looks more promising; once again, over-voltage duration figures?
  • Hi Robert,

Unfortunately, these two device cannot operate beyond the maximum ratings (VIN<45V), or the device may be damaged permanently. Do you consider adding TVS at the input for these 24V system?

May I know what's the load of this LDO in your application? And what's the solution in your previous project? Thanks!

    Best regards,
