TPS7H1201S parallel LDO configuation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7H1201HTEVM

Hello, I'm attempting to use the TPS7H1201S in a design i'm working on.   I would like to configure this in the parallel mode for increased robustness, however i'm am not sure how to size "Rcl".  The datasheet is vague on this, the best info i could find was on pg12, but that wasn't enough for me to figure it out.

Additionally, if i use "Rcl", do i still need the resistor to ground on PCL, and the resistor to VIN on CS?

My Vin is 3.3V, my desired Vout is 1.9V @500mA.

Thanks!

  • Hello, I wanted to follow up with this post. Looking for help.

Should, I(ol2) be equal to half my Vout current?   Please Advise.

  • Mathew,

Please refer to the users guide  of TPS7H1201HTEVM  see attached link.

    http://www.ti.com/tool/tps7h1201htevm#Technical Documents

As highlighted in section 8.7 Current sharing on pg. 18 of users Guide

In parallel mode CS pin of LDO#1 must be connected to PCL pin of LDO#2 via a series resistor

(41.5 kΩ) and CS pin of LDO#2 must be connected to PCL pin of LDO#1 via series resistor (41.5 kΩ).

    • In parallel configuration R30 (resistor from PCL to GND) and R23 (resistor from CS pin to VIN) must be

    left open (unpopulated)

This will allow you to have output current of 1A  and current limit at 1.2A with two EVM’s in parallel.

Let me know if this helps.
