Are there any HT parts similar to the Delfino MCU SM320F28335-HT?

Hello Experts,

I am using the SM320F28335GBS in my application, and one of my concerns is End-of-Life and Obsolescence. In case TI decides to stop manufacturing this part, what are the alternatives that allow me to keep my project going with minimal changes to software (code porting) and hardware (board layout). Are there any such parts - similar in architecture, performance etc. - that TI has in its portfolio?

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Sira

  • Hi Sira,

As of now HT part released for Delfino is the one you're using. So I guess you'll have to wait and watch for the parts like F28377D or S to have HT rating. Also, the life of above part does not seem to have reached its end.

  • Hi Gautam,

Thank you for replying. I'd like to know how many more years the 28335-HT part will be produced. Is there a way to find out?

    Thanks,
    Sira
  • Sira,
TI's high-reliablity devices typically have a longer lifetime than TI's commerical devices. I have moved this thread to the High-Reliability forum to allow this team to comment further on the specific lifetime commitments for this device. For more information in the meantime, you can check out this link: www.ti.com/.../quality-reliability.page.

  • There are no plans at this time or in the foreseeable future to obsolete this device. We are not in a position to speculate on how long a TI component will remain in production, since factors like market demand, process efficiency, device reliability, and technology trends must be considered when TI decides how it will allocate its limited resources. Nonetheless, it is TI's intention to maximize customer service with a reliable source of product supply for as long as TI practically can, in order to optimize our long-term customer/supplier relationship. When products are made obsolete, Texas Instruments will provide notification of Product Obsolescence and offer a Life Time Buy (LTB) opportunity, where applicable. TI allows up to 12 months from the date of notification for an order to be placed, and allows an additional 6 months to take delivery of the ordered product.  In addition, there could be the possibility of a die bank or a device bank where we have a cost sharing agreement with the customer to extend the support of a device.
