SMV512K32-SP MBE Error Generation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SMV512K32-SP

For hardware testing purposes, is there a way to cause the SMV512K32-SP to generate an MBE for a particular address?

For example: If I disable EDAC, write to a location, then enable EDAC and read that location can I trigger an MBE?

Alternatively, is there a control register I can write to that can cause the MBE to assert on the next read?

  • James,
I could not find the exact reference, but I believe that your first statement can be used. Ie, the EDAC can be disabled, written to, then re-enabled. Since the EDAC was disabled, it did not create new parity data .
I do not believe there is register to mimic this.
I will double check with SST to confirm.

  • James,
Sorry for delay. I thought I had replied to confirm this already.
    This has been confirmed.
You can disable EDAC, write to memory, and parity bits will no longer match and error will be detected when EDAC re-enabled.
