LM117HVQML-SP: Current rating for LM117H MDE die version

Part Number: LM117HVQML-SP

Hello

My question is regarding the die version of the part: LM117H MDE (not for the packaged part)

Can you please advise what is the max. current at Tj=105C

At the following setup:

Vin = 10.3V, Vout = 8V

and please specify the MTBF at the same conditions with output current = 500mA

Thanks

  • Hello David,

    Your maximum current limit will have a relationship to temperature and the device heatsink/mounting. Therefore I am unable to say as it depends how you integrate the die.

    The MTBF information can be found at www.ti.com/.../estimator.tsp. Please let me know if you have further questions.

    Thanks,
    Kyle
  • Hi David,

    To clarify, your current limit is actually going to be above 500mA. However, you may hit the thermal limit depending on heatsink/mounting of the die. The thermal shutdown at a high temp will look like a current limit though.

    Thanks,
    Kyle
