TMS570LS3137-EP: -55C (Part) vs. -40C (Internal Peripheral) Operating Temperature Specs.

Part Number: TMS570LS3137-EP

Subject part is specified from -55C to +125C

However, some internal peripheral devices are -40C to +125C

What is typical justification for using -40C rated peripherals in -55C environment?

What is the established work-around for operating at -55C and using the -40C peripherals?

Is there additional factory data available at -55C to use as design guidance for the -40C features?

  • Keith,

    See my replies below.

What is typical justification for using -40C rated peripherals in -55C environment?

-Device and peripherals are fully characterized to operate down to -55.  However the IP was designed to operate at min temperature of -40c.   Thus, we cannot guarantee by design operation below -40.

What is the established work-around for operating at -55C and using the -40C peripherals?

-It would be recommended to validate system requirements and testing to insure -55c operation is robust within your system.

Is there additional factory data available at -55C to use as design guidance for the -40C features?

-This is primarily a cold start question.  Self heating will raise die temperature above -55.

    Regards,

    Wade
