SN74AHC244: Difference from SN74AHC244Q

Hi All,


I have a question about SN74AHC244.

We are considering SN74AHC244Q as an alternative to SN74AHC244.
What is the difference between SN74AHC244 and SN74AHC244Q?
I checked the datasheet and there is no difference.

    The datasheet says:

    • Q Devices Meet Automotive Performance Requirements
    • Customer-Specific Configuration Control Can Be Supported Along With Major-Change Approval

    The SN74AHC244PWR goes only up to 85 °C.

    Neither the SN74AHC244Q nor the SN74AHC244-Q1 datasheets mention AEC-Q100 qualification, but I'd expect the latter to have it.

    If you care only about the electrical characteristics, then these three devices are interchangeable.

    Hello Ishiwata-san,

    I checked through the SN74AHC244QPWRQ1 versus the SN74AHC244QPWR and found that these two are the same device - physical construction, electrical characterization, and qualifications are all identical.

    The only difference I can see is in the datasheets:

    * SN74AHC244-Q1 lists ESD ratings

    * SN74AHC244Q lists latch-up performance

    Since they are physically and electrically the same - both of these ratings apply to both devices.

    I see that these devices were released on different dates, with the "Q" device coming out first. It may have been that the device was released prior to all qualifications being completed, so it was released with a limited qualification set that did not meet AEC-Q100 requirements -- but I have no way of knowing since my records now show that it meets all the same qualifications as the other device.
