SN74LS03: Max current input

Hi Team,

Good day. I am posting this inquiry on behalf of the customer.

"I have a question about the maximum current that this open collector part can safely sink (SN74LS03DR). The datasheet lists this as 8 mA, but the website indicates 16 mA. My spec sheet is from 1988, is the current part capable of a larger sink current?"

LS supports only 8 mA. Apparently, the web site took the value from the SN7403, which shares the same datasheet.

Hey Marvin,

To piggyback off Clemens, if you ever see a discrepancy, the datasheet should have the most correct information. Datasheets are updated manually while the website will pull data from sources automatically. This can lead to issues (very rare) like this.

I will contact our website support and inform them of this.
