SN74LVC16244A: Question on fanout of the output

Part Number: SN74LVC16244A

Hey team,

Is there anything that would prevent the SN74LVC16244A from driving several NOR gates off of one output? (Ex NOR SN74LVC1G02DBVR).

I'm assuming not since the NOR gates holistically depend on voltage and will be acting in parallel.

Do you think it is better to understand if there is a minimum input clamp current for the NOR gate?

Thanks,

Cam

  • Hi Cameron,

There is nothing inherently wrong with this. Just keep in mind that for any single output the load current should not exceed 25 mA as noted in the datasheet; and looking at the datasheet for the SN74LVC1G02DBVR which states a maximum input current of 5 uA this probably won't be a problem. Additionally, this output should be pulled down in case the device is off or the outputs are not enabled to avoid leaving any of the NOR gates with floating inputs.

    Best,

    Malcolm
