SN74LV244A: Safety Failure Modes

Hi!

We are working in a safety circuit and we are using the SN74LV244APWR transceiver / buffer to manage the PWM pulses from MCU to gate drivers. We can guarantee from safety point of view that cutting VCC power supply and/or output enable will ensure that there is no signal/pulses on the output of the buffer? Can we have info about the failure modes of this element to analyses the failure effects?

Hi Rober,

Cutting VCC will NOT guarantee that there are no pulses (backpower is always a possibility). However, keeping output enable high will prevent the device from outputting.

As far as more info you would have to be more specific. There are a lot of system considerations and TI makes no guarantee of performance or recommendation for any failure modes. If you want failure mode distribution information, you have to request that on the internal forum.

Hi Roberto,

Do you have sales rep supporting your company? A lot of the quality information will be under an NDA. The internal forum is also only for sales reps and field apps engineers. You have to have an internal TI account.
