CD4070B: VOL and VOH, TTL of LM566

Hi,

The VCO LM566 provide the TTL square wave output,

IC	VOH (V)	VOL (V)
LM566	14.27	6.41

Which is provided to CD4070 and CD4013's CLK,

IC	VIH (V)	VIL (V)
CD4013BE	11	4
CD4070BE	11	4

whereas, the VIL is exceeding the range, but still the expected output is observed.

We need to Understand, how it is possible?

Hi Mirthunraju,

Switching usually takes somewhere right around 50% VCC +/- a couple of hundred mV depending on process variations. However, we only guarantee switching performance within the range specified by VIL/VIH.

So, the design could work if you are operating between VIL/VIH, however, you do so at your own risk.

Yeah, I understood.

The VIH and VOH of VCO LM566 is practically tested value, and the exact value are not provided in datasheet.

Could you please provide?

We do not have an exact value. As I said, the value changes with process variations. We only characterize devices based off of VIH and VIL.
