SN74AHC1G125: SN74AHC1G125 Iol/Ioh Abs Max vs. Recommended rating ratio

Part Number: SN74AHC1G125

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer has 2 questions:

1) Current output Low and High Abs Max ratings vs. Recommended seems quite high. ±25mA vs ±8mA. Why or what causes it.

2) They use 2 buffers in series: Do we recommend a series resistor? If, what resistance?

Just want to double check here.

Regards,

Frank

  • 1. Up to 8 mA, the voltage drop (VOL/VOH) is guaranteed. Up to 25 mA, the device will not be damaged.

    2. The input impedance is many GΩ; a series resistor has no effect on the receiver. For long traces, it can make sense to have a source termination resistor at the driver.
