TPLD1202-DYY-EVM: Can the TPLD1202-DYY-EVM be powered at Vcc=5V while connected to the USB programmer?

Part Number: TPLD1202-DYY-EVM

Tool/software:

Can the TPLD1202-DYY-EVM have the external Vcc power input at 5V while the EVM is connected to the USB powered programmer? Once I temporarily program the PLD in the EVM, I need to run it at 5V so it properly drives 5V logic external to the EVM. I'm hoping this is safe for the hardware. I would like to avoid having to permanently program the device and disconnect the programmer to allow the EVM to be powered at 5V.

  • Hi Christopher,

Yes - Before connecting the EVM to any power source, shift the power switch on the right side of the board to OFF (the lower position). Add a jumper to the EXT_VCC header, and connect the 5V power source to the EXT_VCC pin in the P2 header block.

In ICS, select the three dots next to the configuration button, and set Power Source to Target Board.

You are now ready for programming using the 5V power supplies.

    Best,

    Ian
