Inquiry regarding VCC level on SN74ALVC164245 and SN74LVCC3245A

Hello, all

Now we are considering to use SN74ALVC164245 or SN74LVCC3245A for new design.

Please let us know whether our understanding are correct.

When referring page 6 of Application Report (SCEA021A), SN74ALVC164245 seems not to be supported to supply 3.3V on both VCCA and VCCB, but SN74LVCC3245A is supported this configuration.

This background is because we are going to use this device on main PCB, on which all devices are supplied by 3.3V.

However, other PCB sometimes supplied by 5V but this is case by case. Then we would like to place this device on main PCB and commonly used this to be able to communicate with both 3.3V and 5V case.

    Thanks for raise the questions here.

    SN74ALVC164245 or SN74LVCC3245A can both work at the 3.3V for VCCA and VCCB. you can download the datasheet and check the spec for VCCB range.

    What listed in SCEA021A is SN74ALVC164245A, not SN74ALVC164245.   

    My suggesetion for you is to use SN74LVC16T245 or SN74LVC8T245, they are the upgrade version for  SN74ALVC164245 or SN74LVCC3245A . The new vesion have more features than old version such as VCC isolation feature and the good Ioff feature, also there is no power seuqence required.
