Greetings , I am in the process of designing a circuit to obtain crisp square wave output from slightly distorted TTL input , I decided to use the SN74AUC1G17 Single Schmitt-Trigger Buffer for this purpose , After testing I realised that my frequency is too high for this. My input frequency is 20 MHz and I want to know if there are Schmitt trigger ICs that operate at this range frequency.

You are definitely not going too fast for the SN74AUC1G17 -- it is capable of 250MHz operation. What type of loading do you have?

The AUC family of devices are specially designed to get the absolute shortest possible delay from input to output, but not necessarily the cleanest square wave (there are always trade-offs). If you just want a clean square wave you might consider the SN74LVC1G17.

I got assistance and it turns out my setup was faulty and yes the SN74AUC1G17 is definitely capable of 20 MHZ and like you said the output pulses have distortion but are still readable.
