SN74LVC8T245: max data rate

Hi Team,

I can see the SN74LVC8T245 MAX data rate from our parametric search page, is it true this device can run up to 100Mhz at both A to B and B to A direction?

From my understand, max data rate can change according to loading and supply voltage, what is the general rule to support highest data rate?, in any specific voltage range for VccA and VccB?

If SN74LVC8T245 has R/C loading like picture below, and VccA = 3.3V, VccB = 5V, customer wants to know the highest data rate this device support to from A to B direction. If we don't know, at least let us know, if 50MHz is no problem to support, thanks.

Hi Andrew,

You are correct, the max freq will depend on the loading and supply voltage.

The higher the supply voltage, the higher the data rate and the higher the loading (capacitve or resistive, the lower the max frequency).

the max data rate could ideally be higher than 100Mhz for LVC8T245 depending on the loading ( up to 150Mhz)

Andrew,

50Mhz is definitely well within the max data rate supported by the device.

Removing the 33ohm series termination resistor will also help in achieving higher data rate ,however, the trade off will be on increased overshoot or impedance mismatch.
