Hi Team,

My customer is trying to use SN74LVC8T245 and sn74AHCT1G08 in the new project to connected to backplane board directly without protection, they have question that if SN74LVC8T245 and sn74AHCT1G08 will not be damaged during hot plug? If not, do we have solution to avoid damage during hot plug? As they need to send out the pcb very soon, need your kindly support to check this.

    I see that there is external ESD protection, which is very good.

    As long as the ground connection is made first, then Vcc, followed by any signal lines, the devices won't be damaged.

    These devices aren't rated for hot plug applications, so the data bus they are connected to could become corrupted during plug-in. If that's not a problem, then the system should be fine as shown. There's an application report that discusses the levels of hot-insertion capability located here: www.ti.com/.../scea026.pdf
