My customer is looking for high-speed I/O expander.
They are using TCA6408A already in the other product, and they know it well , but i2C is 400Ksps and very slow.
Customer need more speed for expand I/O port of their MCU . ( 50Msps if available)
My one idea is using SN74AHC595 using 5 port (for OE/RCLK/CRCLR/SRCK/SER), and a SN74AHC595 (8bit) Or two SN74AHC595 (16bit: daisy chain).
Question 1
How do you think about " high-speed I/O expander " using SN74AHC595?
Do you have any other idea?

What is fmax (CL=15pF) 80MHz (min) at Ta=25 deg-C in the sn74AHC595 data sheet?
Does this mean SRCLK in page 10 ?
