SN74LS07: total sink current

IHi team,

How much total sink current can SN74LS07 drive? D/S mentioned 40mA per channel, however I didn't find total sink current.

Kotaro san,

The datasheet always specifies the IOL IOH sink/source currents per channel basis.
it can drive 40mA per channel as you have rightly mentioned.
do you need to drive(sink) more than 40mA per channel?
were there any other considerations for selecting this device?

e.g. SN74LVC07A D/S mentioned "– Load currents must not exceed 25 mA per output and 50 mA total for the part." .
So, I would like to understand this kind of infomation as well.

Kotaro,

we do not have the abs max current for the device on the datasheet to be guaranteed and I would say that the 100mA total current out of the device is a safe estimate to have.

Would also want to know is you could consider using other devices here in place of LS07 since they are older TTL technology consuming higher Icc current.

Requirements are;

1. 18mA max per channel

2. Acceptable total 60mA at same time

Kotaro san,

I would recommend using the SN74ALS1035 which doesn't consume as much power as the 'LS07 does.
provides up to 24mA IOL per channel.
and will be able to handle 60mA total current.
Let me know if this would work.
