SN74128: SN74128 frequency

Part Number: SN74128
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74HC245, SN74LVC245A

Hi,

I would like to drive 4 x 50 Ohms load at 60MHz with SN74128. Does it work ?

Best regards

  • Hi Cedric,
I doubt that this device would work at that frequency. You're looking at the original logic family produced in the 1960's.

Have you considered instead using something like the SN74LVC245A? or the SN74HC245? You might have to parallel a few channels to get the drive strength you need, but it's a much better device in general. The HC family goes up to about 70 MHz at 5V, and the LVC family goes up to about 125MHz at 3.3V.
