SN74LVC1G14-Q1: tpd could be small?

Part Number: SN74LVC1G14-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AUC245, SN74AUC244

Hi Experts,

I'm looking for some single bit buffer that could support tpd less than 1ns. Not sure if any standard logic component could support this. or any thing else could be selected?

thanks!

  • Hello Zhipei,
I don't think there are any devices out there that will support that requirement.

Can you tell me about the system? Why is a delay of under 1ns required? What's the load? Supply voltage? Data rate?
  • Hi Emrys,

Thanks for the information! just wondering if there could be any candidates for the requirement. The system is to distribute clock in daisy chain mode and would accumulate the delay from each node. but all nodes still need to be worked in synchronous with this clock. Will review this on my side to ensure the requirement is not valid.

    Thanks!

  • It's best for a clock fanout to fanout all layers of the clock equally so you don't have differences in the timing in the system -- or design the system such that clocks that occur sooner are connected to logic that needs to be executed first.

The fastest device available for this from the standard logic product line would be the SN74AUC244 or the SN74AUC245.

There are also fanout clock buffers with rated additive jitter avialable from TI, located here:

These are supported by a different team though -- if you want to get help with those, I would recommend opening a new post with one of the part numbers from their portfolio.
