Understand for most TI products, there is no difference between G4 and non-G4 parts as G4 was legacy to signify green products previously. However, for SN74AHC595, there is a difference in datasheet in terms of lead finishing -
SN74AHC595PWR: NIPDAU | SN
SN74AHC595PWRG4: NIPDAU
Questions -
1). is the datasheet correct that the two materials have different lead finishing materials?
2). any other differences between SN74AHC595PWR and SN74AHC595PWRG4?
