SN74LV164A: VQFN Thermal Pad connection

Part Number: SN74LV164A

Hi,

I'm planning to use the VQFN version of the SN74LV164A. The datasheet states the thermal pad must be soldered to the PCB for mechanical and thermal performance. The datasheet further says the thermal pad should be connected to the appropriate plane layer indicated in the electrical schematic by vias to function as a heatsink. Unfortunately I cannot find any information in the datasheet indicating where the thermal pad pin should be connected in the schematic. Is it GND, VDD or should it be left floating? Please let me know, thanks. -Taylor
