I see the outputs support hot-insertion, but the datasheet doesn't give more description. In one project, customer uses four pieces of SN74LVT16244B. Only one unit failed after hot-insertion, and the the same unit failure happened in 5 boards of total 100 boards. I paste the schematics here. Vcc is powered from the same board and its outputs are hot-insertion to Socket XS2. Failure analysis shows Pin 3A4, VCC pin and other output pins near 3A4 failed by shorting to GND.
From above description, could you give me any possible cause that made the chips fail? I will keep checking more details, your comment might help me find the root cause.
