SN54LVTH162244: SN54LVTH162244 bus hold

Part Number: SN54LVTH162244

Hi Team,

My customer is having below queries, can you please help to resolve.

i) When the OE is high (ie disabled), will the output be floating?
ii) Is bus hold used to avoid floating inputs of 54LVTH162244 only?  When the device is disabled, should we plan additional pull ups to ensure that the I/O device connected to the same does not float?  Understanding is that outputs of 54LVTH162244 will never float whether OE is Enabled or Disabled is it correct?

Thanks in advance for the support.

Regards, Shinu

  • Hi Shinu,

    i) The output will be hi-z but the bus hold circuit will hold the line at a valid logic state.

ii) Bus hold exists to eliminate floating nodes in a bus, pull-ups and pull-downs are not recommended to be used in conjunction. Your understanding is correct.
