SN74LVC32A: Can it operate at 5V?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVC32A

I have a follow up question for a third case:
This is for using the SN74LVC32A, but I guess it has similar characteristics to the device in the subject.
What are the implications for using this case?
case 3. Input voltage = 5V, output voltage = 5V at Vcc = 5V

Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

I split this thread since it's on a new device even though the topic is similar to Takahashi-san's post.

The absolute maximum ratings table for SN74LVC32A indicates that the supply can work up to 6.5V, so 5V would not be a problem.

The down side to operating at 5V is that the device was only characterized to 3.6V:

So, essentially, the device will work at 5V supply and I/O, however it was not characterized to operate at that voltage, so we can't guarantee performance.
