Hello, all

Now we have one inquiry regarding ESD protection for buffer IC from our customer.

Please refer to the item below, and feedback us with your comment.

We are looking for buffer IC which has +/15kV ESD protection.

However, we could not find any devices which includes this.

For example, the datasheet of SN74LVC07A did not mention this.

The logic level for buffer IC is 5V and the number of total signal lines is 10 per board.

Please let us clarify whether you have any other device which could support this, or we need to add TVS diodes in front of the device on any cases.

Atsushi,

From my experience, our logic parts are typically rated up to 2 kV. I'm not sure if we even test up to 15 kV. I will ask my group for further input and have an answer for you next week.

Atsushi-san,

From discussions I've had, it doesn't sound like many of our devices have 15-kV ESD tolerance. I recommend using external ESD protection.
