EK-TM4C123GXL: Tivaware does not show as installed

I've tried to install Tivaware 2.1.4.178 several times via Resource Explorer in CCS 12.4 and after finishing the process, even though the files are downloaded it shows like it was not installed. I'd appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks.

Hi,

Please download the latest TivaWare SDK installer version 2.2.0.295 from https://www.ti.com/tool/SW-TM4C. If you still have issue with the installation, please report back.

Hi Charles.

I installed SDK version 2.2.0.295, but still it does not show in the Resource Explorer. I even tried going to the CCS menu bar "Window->preference->code composer studio->product" and in the section "Discovered product" to see if it'd recognize it, but it does not.

Hi,

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. Once you download 2.2.0.295, you simply import whatever projects you want to CCS and start running these examples. There is no need to use Resource Explorer to import the examples anymore. As a matter of fact, CCS Resource Explorer has no knowledge about the latest version 2.2.0.295 being installed on your local drive. To import projects, click Import. See below.

Specify the path to the example you want import in the next screen. You can find all EK-TM4C123GXL examples in C:\ti\TivaWare_C_Series-2.2.0.295\examples\boards\ek-tm4c123gxl. CCS will detect all the examples. You can select all of them or any one.

Hi Charles.

Thanks for your response. I'm familiar with the process of importing CCS projects. The problem that I see is that even installing a Tivaware package from the Resource explorer, they are still not showing as installed in the Resource Explorer like it did in the past. It seems like TI's position is to move away from supporting Tivaware from the Resource Explorer and rather just download it from the web and Importing the example projects.

Hi Alberto,

I will transfer your question to our CCS expert if you are unable to download TivaWare from within CCS. Personally, I have not downloaded TivaWare from CCS but rather the product download page from https://www.ti.com/tool/SW-TM4C and that is pretty much what customers do as far as I know. You certainly has the motivation to download from CCS if that works for you in the past. I will defer that to our CCS team. Today is a US holiday so please expect delay in any response.

This is a known issue. Please see:

This issue is still open. Please use the recommended workaround as mention by Charles.

Please note that version 2.1.4.178 is the last version that is supposed to be supported by Resource Explorer. For 2.2.0 to be supported, the Tiva team would need to submit a new Resource Explorer package.
