Hi,
In the chapter 2.4.1 of the TRM, there's a note concerning the voltage monitor: "Note: The voltage monitor is not an alternative for an external voltage supervisor."
To which argues is it due, and why?
Best regards,
Yannick

Hello Yannick:
The on chip voltage monitor threshold tolerances as given in the datasheet are not sufficient to guarantee device minimum and maximum voltages. The intent of the on chip voltage monitor is primarily to provide sequencing of VCC and VCCIO during power up and to provide voltage protection for gross malfunction in the power supply. For safety applications, this protection alone is not sufficient.
