Making new boosterpack, what are the preconditions ?

Hello guys,

I want to make a new boosterpack and upload it on TI website, I am a single individual having no official website. I just want to know what are the pre-conditions (e.g. company website, company name or any thing else required) to make a booster pack and display on TI website ?

If my first boosterpack works and gives me a good kick start, I have intention to produce many other boosterpacks.

I thank you all.

Regards,

Sahil

what are the pre-conditions...for the introduction of new boostepack...

I'm outsider - like you - and suspect this is best answered by vendor's Mr. Maples - and/or his department.

As a small, tech biz owner - I can tell you that it proves wise to test, then retest - to best insure that your offering (really) meets its specifications.    And I'd involve qualified friends, tech associates - any (and everyone) who may provide further comment and insight - soon - rather than later.   (it is unusual for "Lone Ranger" (one guy/gal) to manage all the issues & inevitable complications & "multi-tasking" which such an endeavor requires.)

Surely your, "market investigation" revealed the strengths/weaknesses of other, similarly placed products.    You've read, carefully considered, and "countered" the many weaknesses which those products exhibit.

Your product well fits a, "market niche" which your skills/capabilities can satisfy - with an expected sales volume adequate to your financial goals - yet not so "high" that any "giant" would be attracted.

And you'll be fully able to protect your, "IP" so that (near) equally skilled others - do not - too soon - arrive at your doorstep...

Recall the adage, "Surgeon - Do no harm!"    So to - your "add on" must fully comply with all of this vendor's, "master/motherboard" specs - especially not "over-taxing" the (bit limited) power supply components.   (3V3 regulator - especially)

Have you fully/properly considered the ramifications of your board's, "misuse?"   If something may be "misconnected" such will occur - and not always admitted!   (i.e. you may consider unique headers/connectors - for each I/O port - to minimize.)   If it's possible to "reverse power" your board - that's guaranteed!

You must very carefully consider the tech support that will inevitably be required.   Quick Start Guide, detailed User Manual, clear drawings, photos - all prove critical.   And example code!

Today's "mousetrap" must be far more elegant than those past.    And the mice appear more demanding,  gratification seeking, (sometimes) smarter...

  • Hello Sahil,

The requirements, details for BYOB is available at the following link.

    www.ti.com/.../byob.html

    Amit
  • And - the (perhaps) important, "What am I getting into?" appears earlier/above... (and acronym free - we note - in western culture - "BYOB" has a long & well recognized - and far different - (thirst quenching) meaning!)

Let the record show that - yet another - "impossible for client-user to find" link now reveals.

  • Hi Amit,

Thank you very much for your reply. Your replies are always very informative indeed.

I will be back to you, if i need some further info.

    cheers,

    Sahil

  • Very informative indeed!
Another gunshot rings out.    (@ (still) incandescently illuminated tech shop of cb1...)     (choice of "this" for "work release" - not always ideal...)

  • Hello Sahil,

Make sure that you pay close attention to cb1's guidance. While the documents and links will help you, there are more subtle but practical "market assesment, SCM" aspects that you would need to make your product a success for you.

    Amit
  • Thank you for that kindness, Amit - much appreciated.

While I've not "blipped the radar" of o.p. - those suggestions & considerations - as taught during a past, tech IPO - are likely to prove useful to multiple others.

I believe that's a purposeful, responsible, and proper use of my "spare" time, energy & experience...

  • Hello cb1,

Documents seldom cover "practical" aspects of design and they are more from mentor-apprentice approach.

    Amit
  • Hello cb1,

Thank you for your useful comments and the practical aspects to be considered.
