TM4C1230H6PM: sd_card example works with some SD Cards

Hello

I have been using sd_card example on my tm4c123 launchpad, and it happens that with certain micro Sd cards it works fine and with others not...every sd cards that I used for this tests hace similar read/write speed (i used a test software to check this)

Any suggestions on what the problem may be?

Hello Daniel,

Have all SD Card been formatted in the same manner? My first thought is the formatting may not match what the TM4C is programmed to look for. Have you checked for this?

I have formatted both, working and not working SD cards on the same manner so I assume that that is not the problem.

also I have tried different process of formatting but working sd remain working and not working ones stays the same... both kind of SD works fine on windows and Linux.

Hello Daniel,

Can you provide the information for a couple cards which are not working? I can try and look into their specs or maybe even procure them to test on my end.

One of them is a kingston 32 gb class 3, and the other one is a sandisk extreme pro 32 gb class 3 also.

The one that works is for example a lexar 633x 16 gb card.

Hi Daniel,

Were there any Class 3 SD cards that worked?

From what I can tell - including my own tests with a couple cards I have - SDHC works fine, so I am wondering this Class 3 speed could be impacting the success.

I've seen a few posts from users commenting that they needed to have the right configuration to read large cards but did not offer details on what those configs would be.

I may have a Class 3 card at home that I can test on Monday, I'll have to check (my digital camera has a top end SD card so I assume it's Class 3) and then try and test with it.

Sorry I haven't been able to do any testing yet on my end, still trying to get that done before end of this week.

Is there anything new on your end that maybe I can try and comment on in the meantime?

Hello Daniel,

So I got around to trying to test this on my end but the SD Card example we have was for the DK board, not the LaunchPad. I tried modifying the project but havent been able to read any SD cards yet. Were there any special changes you made aside from ripping out the graphic display code?

Perhaps can you share the CCS project you have working with some SD cards?

Also curious if you have an answer to my prior question of Were there any Class 3 SD cards that worked?
