TMS320LF2407A: C24x Compiler for Linux

Part Number: TMS320LF2407A

I'm working with a customer looking for a C24x compiler that will work under in a modern Linux environment. Looking at all of our internal and external compiler download pages, the closest thing I can find is CCS 3.3 for Windows (which I believe includes a C24x compiler). We are just looking for the compiler and do not need an IDE such as CCS.

Does such a thing exist?

The customer claims to have obtained a version 7.00 for Solaris (though I could not find that either).

Thanks,

Stuart

  • Does such a thing exist?

Unfortunately, no.  The last release of the C24x compiler is version 7.04.  At that time, supported hosts included Windows, Sun Solaris, and a workstation from Hewlett Packard called the HP 9000.  None of them are available as public downloads.

    Thanks and regards,

    -George

  • George,

I am presuming that the C24x compiler is bundled with CC3.3. I was reading through the instructions for CCS3.3 on Windows 10, and came across this limitation:

    https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/ccs_ccs33-windows10.html#known-limitations

Does this mean a "stand-alone" version of the C24x compiler must be obtained to run successfully on a 64-bit Windows system?

    Thanks,

    Stuart

  • Stuart,

The component manager in CCSv3.x could be used to swap out the compiler version being used.  Unlike modern CCS where the compiler to use is specified in the project, back then it was global to the CCS application.  The component manager does not work on Windows 10 so you would not be able to use it to swap compiler version X for compiler version Y.

Also note that the CCSv3.3 image available for download does not include the 24x compiler.  For 24x support it is necessary to use the C2000 CCS3.3 image that is available for purchase.

    Regards,

    John
