TMS320F28335: Using Emulator XDS100V2.0 TI on TMS320F28335FPGA Chip with CCS3.3 Platinum

Hi,

Customer has a query about Emulator XDS100V2.0 TI on TMS320F28335FPGA. Please refer on the message below.

"I use the Emulator XDS100V2.0 TI. Install the CCS 3.3 Platinum on Windows XP 32. And I have TMS320F28335FPGA Chip on the board. Before buy the Emulator I read data sheet it. XDS1000V2 Emulator support this series chips C283xx. Now when, I connect all items (supply the board, green led on XDS100v2 is light) CCS 3.3 no connect. although, when I did settings (creating and choose a chip and emulator) No any problem. When I do the connect by CCS 3.3 I Had ERROR (no target connection) The OS Windows XP see my emulator in device manager normal like 2 chanel XDS100 V2 A channel and XDS100 V2 B channel. I am afraid that I don't have correct .cgf file, Because no it for same name."

    Ray,

    Can the customer open up the "Code Composer Studio Setup" and verify that the selection looks like the below images?  Please ask them to note or take a picture of their window if there are differences:

    If customer could take a picture of the emulator pod to show the emulator type that may also help.  If I attempt to connect w/o the emulator connected to the PC, I get the same error as the customer has posted.

    I would need to make sure that the XDS100V2 is supported under CCS v3.3 or just the XDS100V1.

    Please see below the response came from the customer. Thanks.

    Concerning the capture pic like you attach. Yes I have done as on screen shot 82776.Capture.PNG
    And I can (if necessary) do the picture. But I am sure the picture will be same 100%

    Concerning Emulator XDS100. Yes I use the Texas Instrumental XDS100V2.0
    Green Led light it means that Emulator working properly.

    Concerning Emulator XDS100V2 is supported the CCS 3.3 But I am not sure I read the data sheet and see next:

    So I use the Code Composter Studio v3.3PLA and tell me please Where can I get the config file .cfg When I do the settings in Setup CCS 3.3 in window Connection protection Configuration file.

    So I have only one question Is support the CCS 3.3 Emulator XDS100v2 or not?
    If I will use The XDS100v2 and use the CCS3.3 and flashing TMS320f28335FPGA?
    Can I or not can.

    And Can I get the file or another doc. for decide the problems.

    I spoke with the CCS team, XDS100V2 is NOT supported in CCS v3.3(only v1 is supported).  Support for this emulator was not added until CCS v4 and later. 

    From what I can tell from the literature either CCSv4 or CCSv5 should work in Win XP OS, so if you want to use the XDS100V2 you will need to install either of those versions of CCS.  You can find archived versions of past CCS here.
